BONE DENSITY

A bone density scan, also known as a DEXA scan, is a quick and painless imaging test used to measure the strength and density of your bones.
It is most commonly used to assess your risk of osteoporosis or fractures, especially if you are over 50, have risk factors for bone loss, or have experienced unexplained fractures.
The scan uses a very low dose of X-rays to check bone health—typically in the lower spine and hips. No special preparation is needed. You should wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers or buttons. The scan takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
